Bangor International Airport (BGR) announced another milestone today...
in passenger traffic for October 2005. BGR posted a 4.8% increase over October 2004’s passenger figures, with a Year to Date increase of almost 7%. Passengers flying through Bangor International Airport totaled nearly 41,000 for the month of October 2005, which is more than 1,800 passengers over October 2004’s passenger total of 38,637.
Bangor International Airport’s Assistant Director Anthony P. Caruso, Jr. is quoted:
"The Airport, with support from Bangor’s City Council and City Management, has been working hard to bring competitive airline service to the region’s passengers. With our YTD passenger figures up 14% since 2001, we can see that the flights and fare choices are what this region is looking for. Our increased air service options are a valuable asset.”
City of Bangor Mayor John Cashwell, III observed: “We are pleased to see the Airport is continuing to set passenger traffic records and that these passenger increases are also affecting other areas, such as long term parking revenues at the Airport, which have increased almost 3% over October 2004’s figures. This has been the Airport’s busiest October in more than 10 years and the city’s riverfront development and new Riverside Racino will put upward pressure on continued growth and highlights the role our Airport will play as Bangor and the region grows as a destination.”
Bangor International Airport is a full-service regional airport offering non-stop, affordable jet flights to Boston, Cincinnati, Detroit, New York City, Newark, Philadelphia, and seasonal flights to Minneapolis. The Airport is an enterprise funded entity operated by the City of Bangor, Maine and is supported solely through airport generated revenue.
