Bangor International Airport (BGR) announced today that August 2005 passenger traffic......
posted a 9.1% increase over August 2004 and a Year to Date increase of 7.05%. BGR's airlines flew 59,466 passengers during the month of August, as compared to 54,511 during August 2004. This being BGR's best August since 1997 and the 6th consecutive month with increased passenger figures over 2004.
Bangor International Airport Director Rebecca L. Hupp noted as follows: "BGR's growth this year has been fantastic. With our competitive prices, excellent connectivity and all jet service, we are attracting more residents of the region. Every passenger counts. We're very pleased with the commitment that the region's passengers and our local travel agents are making to utilize BGR instead of airports several hours to the south and it is a testament to our ever growing air service options."
City of Bangor Mayor Frank Farrington observed: "Our great air service is certainly prompting spectacular growth. The City of Bangor is pleased to be able to offer an extensive range of top-quality and affordable jet air service to and from the region. Bangor is emerging as a centerpiece of activity, such as the American Folk Festival, and our ever growing air service options are a big asset to the region."
