Officials to Conduct Mock Disaster Drill 5/12/2005

Bangor International Airport (BGR) today announced that they will conduct a Mock Disaster Drill this Saturday, May 14th, 2005 from 8:00am to 12:00pm.

The drill is required by Federal Aviation Regulations and applies to all certified airports hosting scheduled airline service on aircraft containing 30 seats or more. The exercise is closely coordinated with Local, State and Federal officials and the Airport works in close cooperation with the Penobscot County Emergency Management Agency.

Drill exercises will include activities designed to test the capability of the airport and community stakeholders to handle additional patients in the event of an aviation incident.

Bangor International Airport’s Director, Rebecca L. Hupp, said “This is a routine exercise and provides an excellent platform to practice our communications and coordination skills in the event of an aviation incident. The drill exercise will not impact operations at the Airport and we expect that the public will notice no impact from the event.”
