Bangor International Airport Announces Delta service to Atlanta 3/17/06

Bangor International Airport (BGR) announced today that Delta Airlines will commence non-stop jet service between BGR and Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport (ATL) on June 8th, 2006.  The new service will operate year round and will be flown on Canadair Regional Jet 700 that seats 70 passengers.

"We are pleased to offer business and leisure travelers of Bangor non-stop service to Delta’s largest hub in Atlanta." said Bob Cortelyou, Delta's vice president of Network Planning.  "This flight is a wonderful compliment to our existing service and will enhance the travel choices for people wanting to fly in and out of the Bangor region. 

Bangor International Airport Director Rebecca L. Hupp applauded Delta’s decision “This is excellent news for the Bangor area. We are delighted with Delta’s commitment to the airport and the community we serve. The Airport and the region have made great strides in recent years in attracting jet service to Bangor. As a result, BGR has had a growth of 25% over the past 5 years.”

City of Bangor Mayor John H. Cashwell commented, “It is rewarding to see Delta’s enhancement of service at BGR.  We strongly encourage residents of the region to use the wide array of convenient and affordable air service.  Bangor is proud to offer more options for travel to our business and leisure passengers.”

Bangor International Airport is a full-service regional airport offering non-stop, affordable jet flights to Atlanta, Boston, Cincinnati, Detroit, New York City, Newark, Philadelphia, and seasonal flights to Minneapolis. The Airport is an enterprise funded entity operated by the City of Bangor, Maine and is supported solely through airport generated revenue.
