The Bangor International Airport is requesting that all passengers arrive 2 (two) hours prior to their scheduled flight departure time. Due to the recent heightened security alert, the volume of checked baggage has increased. In addition, due to the enhanced security measures implemented under level orange, the Dept. of Homeland Security - Transportation Security Administration is taking more precautions with luggage, which requires more time to process and screen checked baggage.
Airport Director, Rebecca L. Hupp notes; “Due to the added security measures taken by the Transportation Security Administration during this time, we are requesting that passengers come to the Airport 2 hours prior to their departure time. This will allow the TSA sufficient time to screen the checked luggage prior to the flight departure and allow passengers adequate time to go through the security checkpoint. It is the goal of all of airlines and the TSA to provide a safe, efficient and convenient travel experience for passengers using the Bangor International Airport.”
