BGR is an exciting place to educate and inspire people of all ages. The BGR program concentrates on inspiring a love of aviation, math and science, and language arts at a young age. BGR’s Educational Youth Program is a great way to augment a classroom’s educational plan for grades 2-4 as it follows the Common Core State Standards and Learning Standards as adopted by the State of Maine.
BGR’s Educational Youth Program is a three month program (March-May), designed to help facilitate the educational process with area teachers and their students. BGR’s mission is to focus on ways to help inspire a joy of learning in the areas of math and science while allowing for a better understanding of the aviation industry and possible careers.
Each class room is given a BGR Learning Flight Log and activities are checked off upon completion. Awards are given to classrooms and students for their participation along the way to help encourage and motivate learning. At the end of the school year, participating classrooms are invited to tour the airport and get a behind the scenes look at the different departments and daily operations.
Afterschool Program Opportunities
The program can also be taught by a BGR staff member in an afterschool program setting, year-round, as long as BGR staff schedules allow.
For more information or to have your classroom participate contact Lisa Eldridge at 207-992-4612 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
BGR also hosts two Travel Preparation Nights for area
families planning a trip and want to prepare their child for their first flying
experience. Children experience checking in, walk through TSA screening, and
see planes land and take off and get a better sense of traveling. Space for
these events is very limited and maybe subject to rescheduling if unforeseen
circumstances arise. For more information or to sign up for a Flying
Preparation Night, send an email to email@example.com
