Bangor is the county seat of Penobscot County, Maine, and the major commercial and cultural center for eastern and northern Maine. Bangor is the third-largest city in Maine, with a population of about 34,000.
Rich in history and culture, and offering abundant outdoor activities, Bangor is just nine miles from the University of Maine, and home to author Stephen King. Bangor is close to several of Maine's outstanding outdoor recreation areas, including Acadia National Park, Baxter State Park, Mount Katahdin, and Sugarloaf Ski Resort.
