Airport Construction InformationBangor International Airport has begun new construction on its Domestic Terminal. Following a terminal building needs analysis in 2006, design concepts were explored and finalized at the end of 2007 with construction beginning in July, 2008.The construction project will provide for more passenger amenities on the second floor and provide for more efficient operations in the entire Domestic Terminal. One of the primary improvements that passengers using the airport will notice when the construction is finished will be the restroom facilities beyond security screening on the second floor. New boarding lounges and other amenities will improve passenger comfort. Other improvements will be seen throughout the entire facility, for the airlines as well as the passengers. The second level of the terminal building will be enclosed, allowing for future expansion of boarding facilities. The construction project will cost $2.9 million. Ninety-five percent of the funds for the project will come from Federal funding sources with the remaining 5% split between the Maine Department of Transportation and airport revenues. It is expected that the construction will be completed in December of 2008. ![]() |
